Manchester United have reportedly opened talks with Borussia Dortmund over a move for Jadon Sancho, with the English winger's representatives engaged in discussions about a potential return to the Premier League. Sancho, who departed Manchester United for Dortmund in 2021 after falling out of favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has rebuilt his reputation in the Bundesliga, contributing 16 goals and 15 assists across 67 appearances whilst helping Dortmund reach the Champions League final in 2024.

The 24-year-old's availability comes as United seek reinforcements on the wing following inconsistent performances this season, with the club currently sitting sixth in the Premier League table. Sancho's potential arrival would represent a significant second chance at Old Trafford, where he managed just 50 appearances during his first spell; however, his transformation into a consistent continental threat under Marco Rose suggests he has matured considerably. A reunion would address United's long-standing need for creative depth on the flanks and could prove considerably cheaper than pursuing alternative targets.

Negotiations remain fluid, though Dortmund's asking price reportedly exceeds £50 million, reflecting Sancho's improved standing in European football. Should the deal progress, Sancho would likely slot into United's starting eleven immediately, having featured in 28 Bundesliga matches last campaign. Completing the signing before the January window closes would hand United crucial depth for their push towards the Champions League positions and provide the squad stability required for a sustained title challenge in the second half of the season.
