Liverpool officials have grown increasingly confident in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain winger Ousmane Barcola, with the French club simultaneously confirming a £47 million departure elsewhere. The 22-year-old left-winger has developed into a crucial attacking asset for PSG since joining from AS Roma in 2023, contributing eight goals and five assists across 32 appearances last season as the Parisians challenged for the Ligue 1 title.

The Reds' optimism stems from PSG's need to balance their squad amid financial constraints, particularly as the Parisian outfit continue to rebuild under new management. Barcola's pace, technical ability, and pressing work would represent a significant upgrade to Liverpool's left-wing options, especially following a challenging 2023–24 campaign that saw Jürgen Klopp's side finish third in the Premier League with 82 points. His arrival would provide direct competition for Andy Robertson and add dynamism to an attack requiring reinforcement before next season's Champions League campaign.

If negotiations progress successfully, Barcola would join Liverpool on a long-term contract, likely costing between £50–60 million given PSG's valuation and the player's age. The French international has made 64 competitive appearances for the capital club and would become the Reds' most prominent attacking recruit since Mohamed Salah's record move, signalling Liverpool's ambition to reclaim their position among Europe's elite ahead of the new managerial era under Arne Slot.
