Hometown favorite Victor Perez electrified the galleries during his second round at the Open de France by delivering a stunning hole-in-one on the 11th hole, instantly boosting his scorecard and securing a lucrative cash bonus. The Frenchman, who captured the prestigious Dutch Open title in 2019 and triumphed at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in 2023, struck a flawless iron shot that tracked directly into the cup. This magnificent moment of individual brilliance not only injected massive momentum into his tournament campaign but also propelled the Ryder Cup star safely inside the projected cut line at Le Golf National.
Le Golf National, located just outside Paris and renowned for hosting the 2018 Ryder Cup as well as the 2024 Olympic golf tournament, is famous for its punishing water hazards and demanding finishing stretch. Perez has experienced plenty of high-pressure moments across the DP World Tour, securing three career victories and consistently ranking among France's top-performing golfers on the global stage. Coming into this historic national open, the Tarbes native was searching for a spark after an inconsistent run of form, making this brilliant ace on the 11th hole a crucial turning point for his weekend aspirations.
Looking ahead to the weekend rounds, Perez will attempt to chase down the leaders on the leaderboard and channel the partisan home support into a serious title charge. As one of France's premier golfing talents, his ability to handle the rigorous test of the Albatros Course will be vital as he battles against a strong international field featuring several major champions. Golf fans across the country will undoubtedly follow his progress closely over the final 36 holes, hoping their local hero can maintain this exceptional momentum and capture his first-ever national Open title.
