Hibernian striker Owen Elding has officially received his maiden call-up to the Republic of Ireland senior national team after administrative passport delays finally cleared ahead of their upcoming UEFA Nations League campaign. The talented young forward, who has steadily risen through the domestic ranks before making his notable move to the Scottish Premiership side, expressed immense pride at joining the senior setup under the national coaching staff. Elding previously represented the Boys in Green at various youth levels, showcasing his lethal finishing ability in the under-21 setup and catching the eye of scouts with his impressive movement inside the penalty box during crucial qualifying fixtures.
This long-awaited senior inclusion marks a major milestone in Elding's rapid professional development, arriving on the back of several standout goalscoring performances for Hibernian at Easter Road. The Edinburgh-based club secured his signature following a prolific spell in domestic football, where his predatory instincts and composure under pressure helped propel his former side up the league standings. Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrímsson has emphasized the importance of injecting youthful energy and clinical edge into an attacking unit that has recently sought consistency in competitive international fixtures, making Elding's arrival particularly timely as the team prepares for demanding UEFA Nations League encounters.
Elding will now join up with the rest of the national squad at their training base ahead of their opening group-stage match, where he will vie for valuable minutes alongside established senior forwards. Securing a competitive cap would permanently cap the rising star at senior international level, further enhancing his growing reputation within British and Irish football. Hibernian supporters and technical staff alike will monitor his progress closely during the international window, hoping the striker returns to Easter Road brimming with confidence and match sharpness for the remainder of the Scottish Premiership season.
