York Knights have officially secured the permanent signature of talented Newcastle Thunder hooker Tom Inman on a lucrative two-year contract following a highly impressive loan spell at the betfred Championship club. The dynamic dummy-half initially joined the Knights on a temporary arrangement earlier this season, quickly establishing himself as an indispensable part of head coach Mark Applegarth's matchday squad through his exceptional distribution and tireless defensive workrate. Inman's decision to commit his long-term future to the North Yorkshire outfit provides a massive boost to the squad's core spine as the club prepares for the rigours of the upcoming professional rugby league campaign.
The acquisition of the former Newcastle standout addresses a crucial tactical requirement for York, who have been striving to cement their status as genuine promotion contenders in the fiercely competitive second tier. During his formative development years, Inman gained valuable experience in the talent pathways of the northern rugby league scene, showcasing his durability and tactical acumen against some of the most unforgiving packs in the competition. His ability to manipulate defensive markers around the ruck area and unlock opposition goal-line defences with clever scooting runs became a trademark of his performances, earning widespread plaudits from supporters and pundits alike during his temporary stint at the LNER Community Stadium.
Looking ahead to the forthcoming fixtures, Inman's permanent retention allows the coaching staff to build cohesive attacking combinations throughout the grueling winter pre-season training block. With York continuously investing in infrastructure and player recruitment to match their ambitious Super League aspirations, securing players entering their prime years remains a cornerstone of the club's modern strategy. The Knights will kick off their intensive preparations in the coming weeks, where Inman is expected to shoulder a heavy leadership burden alongside fellow senior squad members in pursuit of silverware.
